Napoli and Chelsea to Resume Haggling Blockbuster Swap

Napoli and Chelsea will be back on the negotiating table to discuss a trade between Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku. The Azzurri’s sporting director Giovanni Manna is currently in London to tend to multiple deals, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

The Serie A club is ready to offer €25M plus €5M add-ons for the former Roma star. The two clubs had examined the deal a couple of weeks ago, but there weren’t the conditions to pull it off.

Chelsea initially asked for Osimhen on loan, and Napoli and the player himself were against such a possibility. At the very least, the formula must envisage a mandatory option to buy. Moreover, the Nigerian striker’s wages are above the Blues’ internal cap, which is the main hurdle.

On the other hand, the deal is more likely than in the recent past. Enzo Maresca and his staff have signed off on bringing in the Partenopei ace after the talks with Atletico Madrid collapsed. The two front offices will discuss the matter in a meeting on Thursday. They will have to bargain the amount of cash in the Serie A’s favor.

The Azzurri expect PSG to table a late bid for the 26-year-old. Its size remains to be determined and might be too distant from the forward’s €130M release clause.

Our Take on Chelsea, Napoli, Lukaku, and Osimhen

Unless the Blues are really strict on the salary, which would be odd for a Premier League powerhouse, Occam’s razor should once again prevail.
