Napoli and Insigne Mulling Alternatives amid Stalemate

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis poured gasoline onto the talks with Lorenzo Insigne over the weekend. The club is unlikely is modify its stance on the extension. The attacker will have to accept the terms or take responsibility for his departure, Corriere dello Sport reports.

In their final offer, Napoli proposed to confirm his current €5M salary till 2026. Instead, they do not want to give the forward a signing bonus nor let him handle his own image rights, as his agent demanded. On the other hand, Insigne, who will turn 31 next summer, was reportedly looking for a pay raise.

The respective positions have not moved in a few weeks, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Inter have taken an interest in adding him, but only next summer and for free. CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that they would not do much in January. Insigne is set to wait until the spring to decide. He is hopeful that the Partenopei could improve their offer if they qualified for the Champions League. His desire is still to finish his career with them.

On the other hand, his representative is doing his due diligence and testing the waters. He is on a business trip to the United States. Insigne has some admirers in the Major League Soccer, in particular Toronto, Corriere dello Sport informs. However, he would consider the move across the pond only if there were no viable options in Europe. Instead, Napoli would go all-in on Jeremie Boga if the captain left, the publication adds.
