Napoli and Inter Get Positive Updates on Lozano and Bastoni

The injuries suffered by Hirving Lozano and Alessandro Bastoni might not be as severe as initially feared. The winger returned from Mexico today and underwent some tests on his shoulder. The center-back has a shot to be present against Liverpool in a week’s time.

Lozano sprained the joint while playing against Panama. According to Sky Sport, he will not have surgery right away. The medical staff of the Azzurri will take the conservative route at first. He will be ready to play in a month in the best possible scenario. If he manages to make it through the second half of the season, he will go under the knife in the summer, as Dries Mertens did in the recent past.

Bastoni is dealing with an ankle sprain, but he did not sustain ligament or bone damage, as the club hinted in a statement. He is eyeing the February 16th’s Champions League clash with the Reds. The defender sounded hopeful in brief remarks to a fan earlier today. The Nerazzurri will appeal his Serie A suspension, hoping to have it cut in half, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. On the other hand, that will not be the case for Simone Inzaghi.

Bastoni and Lozano will not be available for Saturday’s match between the two title contenders. Instead, Kalidou Koulibaly and André-Franck Zambo Anguissa will be back in Naples Thursday after making it to the final stages of the African Cup of Nations. They are set to be good to go for Napoli-Inter, Sky adds.
