Napoli rose from the dead to draw level with Leicester City after going two goals down in their Europa League Group C opener. Nigerian marksman Victor Osimhen was the star of the show with his perseverant brace, disappointing the Leicester faithful in a buzzing King Power Stadium.
In the heat of moment, as Osimhen scored the leveler in the 87th minute, a set of Napoli fans in the away section clashed with police and home fans after trying to jump a formed barrier amid flared tempers.
Tensions rose once Osimhen got his side’s first, indicating the possibility of a potential second. A verbal confrontation began between the home and away supporters with the equalizer being scored at the death. And things went off the roof once the full time whistle was blown.
The police formed a shield between the two sets of fans but dozens of ultras attempted to jump over the barrier and ended up fist fighting with the officers in charge. The hardcore supporters were seen throwing plastic bottles and what not, with even some of them wielding their belts as weapons.
A major brawl also erupted outside Leicester’s De Montfort university between the Partenopei and Foxes supporters before kick-off.
