Napoli Attacking Duo Keeping Up with Top Ones in Europe

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen established an immediate connection since the Georgian moved to Italy, which has been one main reason behind Napoli’s success this season. The center-forward leads Serie A in scoring with 16 goals. The winger has bagged half of it, plus he has already dished ten assists.

Per La Repubblica, the duo is keeping up with the most prolific tandems in Europe. They have combined for 24 goals. Only Erling Haaland (25) and Phil Foden (10) and Kylian Mbappé (13) and Neymar (12) have produced more than them. The stellar Manchester City and PSG pairings are at 25.

Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen are on track to challenge some of the best combos in Serie A history given the ample time at their disposal in the season to do some more damage. The Nigerian striker even missed four games earlier due to a thigh injury. Last year, Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic netted 38 goals together. Torino legends Paolo Pulici and Francesco Graziani, who formed one of the best well-known duo, often smashed the 40-goal threshold in the 70s.

Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet found the target 49 times in their best campaign together. Gianluca Vialli and Roberto Mancini did even better in 1988/1999 when the former recorded 33 goals and the latter 14. Milan icons Marco van Basten and Ruud Gullit weren’t far behind in that same campaign. More recently, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez hit the net 24 and 17 times. It happened when Antonio Conte led them to the Scudetto. Other iconic couples needed some time to gel, while Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia hit it off right away.
