Napoli Close to Ounahi Deal But Not Before Demme Departure

Napoli midfielder Diego Demme has been linked to the exit door, likely this January transfer window, as he prepares to evaluate offer from the Bundesliga and Turkish Super Lig. Keeping a close eye on the German’s next move, the club are eager to close the deal for Morocco revelation Azzedine Ounahi from Ligue 1 outfit Angers.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli), Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is hyped to settle the transfer deal with Angers for the enigmatic midfielder by offering €15M plus bonuses. If Angers do accept the offer, he would only move at the end of the current season, staying with the French club for the rest of 2022/23. Ounahi is also eyed by Olympique de Marseille, Leicester City and Barcelona.

While Ounahi has experienced an upward trajectory since the World Cup, Demme has fallen out of sorts with Napoli this season largely due to the explosion of Stanislav Lobotka in the middle of the park.

However, Ounahi’s Partenopei transfer will depend on Demme’s next move, as the 31-year-old is currently on the receiving end of an offer from Vincenzo Montello’s Adana Demirspor and Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. There are suitors from Serie A too, as Monza and Salernitana keep a close eye on proceedings (via TuttoNapoli).
