Whether Hirving Lozano stays or not, Napoli are inches away from adding Jasper Lindstrom from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Mexican winger is in talks to reunite with PSV, although their offer hasn’t been accepted yet, plus his sizeable wages could be an issue.
According to Sky, Napoli are closing in on a €30M deal. The formula will likely be a loan with an obligation to make the transfer permanent to dilute the payment. His side recently turned down a €25M bid from RB Leipzig.
Napoli plot to bring in Lindstrom regardless of their call on Lozano, who’s on an expiring contract. He has notched 9 goals and 4 assists in 38 appearances last season. The Azzurri took a close look at him in the Champions League as they eliminated Eintracht Frankfurt in the Round of 16.
As for Lozano, PSV put forth a €10M proposal plus €5M add-ons to lure him back to the Eredivisie. Los Angeles FC tendered similar numbers earlier this summer but were rebuffed.
Our Take on Napoli and Lindstrom
The title holders have money lying around after the Gabri Veiga deal collapsed. The prospective newcomer isn’t a pure winger but will end up playing there most of the time. All things considered, a new weapon in that role is a more impactful and urgent reinforcement than an extra midfielder, albeit super talented.
