Napoli Closing In on Contract Extension with PSG Target

PSG made a robust attempt to lure Khvicha Kvaratskhelia away from Napoli, finding an overture from the player. However, team president Aurelio de Laurentiis never truly considered selling his ace. The talks between clubs basically never started. Instead, the negotiation between the Azzurri and the player’s camp concerning a renewal made strong progress, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.

The winger wouldn’t mind putting pen to paper before the Euro. Though, it’s not sure it’ll happen given the complexity of the deals usually arranged by the Partenopei. His agent Mamuka Jugeli asked for €5M wages. The side offered €4M. The parties could be halfway, perhaps through add-ons. They are also bargaining a future release clause. It won’t be distant from Victor Osimhen’s €130M one.

New Napoli coach Antonio Conte might pay Kvaratskhelia a visit at the Georgian setup in Germany, Rai reports (via Tuttomercatoweb). PSG tendered a five-year contract with €7.5M wages. The attacker would have been open to joining if his side agreed, but that didn’t happen.

Instead, the Partenopei continue to wait for the right offer to cash in on Victor Osimhen, who’s drawing interest from the Ligue 1 giants too and Saudi Arabia. A Premier League powerhouse hasn’t materialized for him just yet.

Our Take on Napoli,  Kvaratskhelia, and PSG

The courtship from the French side was probably real but also part of a leverage play by his entourage to accelerate the conversations for a new deal, as the officials had been dragging their feet.
