The Lazar Samardzic deal has taken longer than anticipated after a swift move by Napoli at the end of December. Unlike what happened with Inter, the acquisition isn’t in jeopardy. Almost everything has been ironed out on his personal terms, Matteo Moretto relays (via SOSFanta).
The salary wasn’t a problem, but the player and his father/agent wanted reassurances about the technical project. The Azzurri handle image rights in a peculiar way, but an agreement has been reached. At this point, the Serb is just waiting for the green light from Udinese to take the medicals. It should be a matter of days.
Napoli are discussing the final details of the Samardzic operation with Udinese. The midfielder didn’t play on Sunday against Lazio, as the move is imminent.
The Scudetto holders would like to add another piece in the same role and have zeroed in on Boubakary Soumaré. He has accepted the destination, but they have to negotiate with two sides, Il Mattino relays (via OneFootball). He’s under contract with Leicester City till 2026, while Sevilla have a €15M option to buy. It’s not easy to make everybody happy. The Azzurri will eventually sign him on an initial loan too.
Our Take on Napoli, Samardzic, and Soumaré
It looks like the negotiation for the former worked in reverse, as Udinese wanted to see whether they’d come to terms with his camp before finalizing everything between clubs. It’s a great landing spot for him, especially if Piotr Zielinski leaves at the end of the season as rumored.
