Napoli Could Go After French Midfielder Once Again

Napoli are in the market for a new central midfielder and could resume pursuing Lucas Tousart, whom they targeted in the early stages of the summer window. The veteran eventually left Hertha Berlin to join the other team of the German capital, Union. However, he hasn’t played much so far. Rudi Garcia is a big sponsor considering their shared past at Olympique Lyonnais, SportMediaset informs.

The 26-year-old transferred for €2.8M and has collected ten appearances across all competitions so far. However, he has started just in half of them and has seemingly fallen out of favor in the past month.

On top of Tousart, Napoli have also been linked to Bodo/Glimt’s Albert Gronbaek, Fenerbahçe’s Sebastian Szymanski, and Hatayspor’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. According to Corriere dello Sport (via OneFootball), they might rekindle their interest in Boubakary Soumaré, whom they wanted in the summer too. He transferred from Leicester City to Sevilla on loan.

The Frenchman had a rocky start in Andalusia but was in the XI in the last four matches.

Our Take on Napoli and Tousart

It’s hard to imagine Garcia being in a position to suggest a signing. If their main goal is to replace Frank Anguissa because of AFCON, he doesn’t have the right traits. They could use an extra option, but chances are Jens-Lys Cajuste will grow enough to be first in line by then.
