Napoli Determined to Acquire Atalanta Star Midfield

Teun Koopmeiners is the top name on the Napoli wish list for the position. Atalanta set a lofty price tag for the Dutchman, but the Partenopei plot to pursue him with vigor, especially if Piotr Zielinski departed.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Pole is in no rush to leave and rejected an offer from West Ham. The Azzurri, once they’ve addressed their management, will offer him a renewal with lower wages relative to his current contract. His term future hinges on his answer, but there’s a chance he stays even on an expiring deal.

Napoli could make a strong move for Koopmeiners regardless. They aren’t super deep considering that Tanguy Ndombélé wasn’t retained from Tottenham and Diego Demme could ask out to play more. But they’ll have to be patient and resolute in the talks with La Dea, which would like to keep the maestro.

The Partenopei will do the same thing with Hirving Lozano, whose pact is up in 2024 as well. West Ham, Aston Villa, and Olympique Lyonnais inquired. The discussions regarding his exit aren’t advanced. Lille’s Edon Zhegrova would eventually be the favorite to substitute him.

Our Take on Napoli and Koopmeiners

A multi-player swoop from Atalanta, as the Scudetto winners are keen on Giorgio Scalvini and Rasmus Hojlund too, would be nearly impossible since the Bergamaschi don’t just give away their best players. One acquisition for the right price is more feasible. He’d be a swell option to succeed Zielinski, or perhaps join him in a stacked and very technical midfield.
