Napoli Determined to Onboard Three Quality Defenders

Napoli have been planning to sign three center-backs and have already snapped up the first one, Rafa Marin from Real Madrid, while Alessandro Buongiorno and Mario Hermoso are next in the club’s ideal strategy, Alfredo Pedullà reports.

The Azzurri are working on the contract of the Torino star and will soon raise their bid to Torino. They could tender as much as €35M plus €5/7M bonuses. They aim to fulfill Antonio Conte’s request, who indicated him as a priority.

While Napoli are confident about adding Buongiorno on top of Rafa Marin, they are waiting for the call from Hermoso. He has drawn offers from Turkey and especially Saudi Arabia. The Partenopei can’t match the sums proposed by the emerging league. However, they are still in the running, as he hasn’t decided whether he really wants to go there. They are the only Italian side concretely chasing after him.

The Campanian side is progressing in the talks with Leonardo Spinazzola, who’s a free agent too. They could sell Mario Rui if they struck a deal. Instead, they are eyeing RB Salzburg’s Amar Dedic on the other flank.

Napoli will invest a lot in the back, especially for Buongiorno, while Rafa Marin will transfer in a convoluted formula and Hermoso is out of contract, as they might not need to splurge in other roles. They could be set in the midfield. Conte’s words are starting to break through to Giovanni Di Lorenzo. They could get Federico Chiesa only through a swap with their captain.

They have no plans to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while the new striker will arrive thanks to the Victor Osimhen windfall. He’ll consider a move to the Middle East more seriously if no European team pursues him.
