Napoli Downplay Locker Room Issues Due to Likely Exits

Piotr Zielinski and Victor Osimhen will probably leave Napoli at the end of the season, but the brass isn’t concerned about their effort level. Director Mauro Meluso spoke to DAZN before the Lazio game, addressing the Pole first. He stated that the midfielder wouldn’t be frozen out (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“He’s a professional, even though his contract is about to expire. He’s very important to this team and will be available as long as he’s with us. Maybe it’s not entirely correct to believe that, even if a player is thinking about leaving, he won’t give 100 percent for his current team.”

“I see Osimhen and Zielinski in training. Victor always wants to win, even during the scrimmages. His competitive spirit is never lacking. When he’ll return, he will be in the right physical conditions, and hopefully mental too, to help the team arrive as high as possible.”

Walter Mazzarri dished on the duo as well in his post-game remarks.

“I have the virtue and flaw of talking a lot to the players, even singularly. I compliment Zielinski and Osimhen, but also Diego Demme, who hadn’t starred in a long time but is really serious. When the guys have a loyal leader, they just need to respond accordingly and give their best. They have a contract. If that’s not the case, I will take them out after 20 minutes.”

Zielinski is reportedly headed to Inter, while Osimhen heavily hinted he would depart in the summer, which was confirmed by president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
