Napoli Earmark Bologna Ace Ferguson to Boost Midfield

Bologna revelation Lewis Ferguson is a player in demand, as the Scottish midfielder continues to turn heads in Italy. The Rangers youth product experienced a impressive debut Serie A campaign after moving from Aberdeen, scoring 7 goals in 33 appearances for the Rossoblu in a season where they narrowly missed out on a historic European spot.

As confirmed by his agent Bill McMurdo, Ferguson has been liked to several Italian heavyweights, including Milan and Juventus. However, according to The Scottish Sun, Scudetto winners Napoli are reportedly lining up a grand move for the central midfielder.

The Partenopei will most likely lose Diego Demme in the middle of the field, with Piotr Zielinski also linked to the exit door at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. This makes onboarding a central midfielder a top priority for Aurelio De Laurentiis and Rudi Garcia.

Bologna, backed by sporting director Giovanni Sartori, have earmarked Ferguson as a concrete part of the club’s future. But the arrival of a strong offer could be hard to turn down.

Ferguson joined the Rossoblu last summer for €3.5M but could leave for almost five to six times that fee following an impressive season that saw him become the highest-scoring Scot in Serie A since Denis Law for Torino in 1962. He is contracted with Bologna until the summer of 2026.
