Napoli Earmark Juventus and Milan Targets for January

The subpar start of the season could entice Napoli to look for reinforcements in January, and they have circled a pair of names who are being chased by other Serie A powerhouses, Lazar Samardzic and Juan Miranda, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via Fantacalcio).

The Partenopei have been keen on the Serb for a couple of campaigns. They could make another attempt in the upcoming window. The talent is eager to join a top team, as he almost did in the summer. Juventus are also after him. The suitors will have to win Udinese’s resistance, though.

While Napoli would add to their weapons if they signed Samardzic, Miranda would help them navigate their injury crisis at the left-back position. Mathias Olivera and Mario Rui are both on the shelf with substantial injuries.

Milan have been pursuing the Spaniard for a few weeks ahead of a potential Bosman move. The Azzurri could try to pull the rug from under the rivals’ feet by agreeing to a small fee to acquire him from Real Betis during the winter.

Our Take on Napoli, Samardzic, and Miranda

The frustrating part of their woes is that their squad is pretty stacked already and has been simply underperforming amid the confusion on the bench. The two left-backs going down together is a problem, but their injuries aren’t long-term. They have the pieces to make do in the meantime. If they purchased the Udinese prodigy, it’d be a major hint about where things are going with Piotr Zielinski.
