Napoli sporting director Mauro Meluso stated that Napoli wouldn’t sell any of their top players in January, which has occasionally been rumored about Victor Osimhen considering his thorny relationship with the club. He dished to Mediaset before the Union Berlin game.
“We had a tortuous start to the season, but the string of good performances after the Genoa draw, where we played balanced football, fueled our hopes. Then we stumbled against Fiorentina, which upset our plans a little.”
Meluso assessed the Napoli squad and the next transfer window.
“Our roster is deep and highly competitive. We believe in it a lot, and the coach manages to maintain the right concentration. We’re happy with that, and everybody must feel as if they are a starter. Our linchpins won’t transfer in January. We’re serene with the team we built. Everything is improvable, but it’s a matter for a later date. We’ll surely meet up to see if and how to intervene.”
Meluso closed with some remarks about Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
“He’s one of the best in the world. He has great physical and technical skills. He’s very professional, and the pre-season injury affected him. The crystal-clear class he showed last year is unimpeachable.”
