Napoli Exec Updates on PSG Talks for Ruiz and Navas

Napoli have elected not to field Fabian Ruiz while the negotiation with PSG is ongoing. However, his departure doesn’t seem imminent just yet. Director Cristiano Giuntoli discussed the state of the talks to DAZN

“He is for sale because we only want players focused on the pitch in our squad. PSG inquired about him. Our roster would have a lot of quality even if left. As for Keylor Navas, we aren’t close to an agreement. We already have two very strong goalkeepers, as Luciano Spalletti said.”

According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Azzurri are considering keeping three shot-stoppers if they struck a late deal for the Costa Rican veteran. Alex Meret doesn’t have many suitors. On top of dishing on Fabian Ruiz potentially joining PSG, the Napoli official weighed in on the addition of Giacomo Raspadori.

“It was a long negotiation, but we reached a positive outcome thanks to the generosity of our president. His arrival will add unpredictability. It will allow the coach to field 4-2-3-1 if he wants to.”

As Tuttomercatoweb points out, Giuntoli had previously announced that they weren’t pursuing Paulo Dybala right before making an offer. In addition, he had declared that 4-3-3 was going to be their standard scheme, and that was the reason why they didn’t sign Gerard Deulofeu, but then opened talks to onboard Raspadori a couple of weeks later.

According to Rai (via Eurosport), Fabian Ruiz will either go to PSG or spend the next few months on the stands since his contract with Napoli expires in 2023 and he doesn’t want to extend it.
