Napoli have opened contacts with Sassuolo for Gianluca Scamacca, as a few Premier League sides are pursuing Victor Osimhen. The Azzurri president Aurelio De Laurentiis called the Neroverdi: “A nice and expensive boutique” in a recent presser, commenting the buzz about their interest in Hamed Traorè and Giacomo Raspadori.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Partenopei approached the counterpart to inquire about the costs of the transfer. They will also need to get in touch with the player to ascertain his intentions. The striker stated that his priority would be to stay in Serie A. On the other hand, it has long been rumored that he had his heart set on joining Inter. But it is not certain the Nerazzurri will really have the funds to go after him.
Napoli would target Scamacca only if Osimhen departed. Manchester United and Arsenal have expressed interest lately, while Newcastle tabled a large bid in January. The intermediaries have been working on his departure for a few months despite his recent words, the publication adds. His agent hinted in an interview that his spell in Serie A was a stepping stone.
It will not be easy for suitors to convince the Partenopei, though. They have set a €100M price tag for the Nigerian star, basically double what they paid to get him from Lille. If it happened, Napoli would be ready to spend around €40M to onboard Scamacca. They have also shortlisted Armando Broja, but he would be a bigger gamble than the Sassuolo forward.
