Torino forward Andrea Belotti is set to leave Torino at the end of the season and the number of suitors in line for his signature has just increased, with the emergence of another Serie a top dog in the transfer saga.
The 28-year-old Granata striker has not been pinned down to a contract renewal deal by the club management and chief Urbano Cairo appears to have given up hope of retaining the club’s sixth-highest goalscorer in history.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports of Napoli in the race for the soon-to-be free agent’s services ahead of the 2022/23 season. Luciano Spalletti’s outfit are preparing to lose Belgian forward Dries Mertens on a free transfer and see the EURO 2020 winner as the perfect replacement in Naples.
However, contrasting reports indicate that the Belotti family is not ‘thrilled’ about a move to the south of Italy, and would rather move to Milan or Bergamo, where Atalanta await in the shadows. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will move for Belotti only if either Luis Muriel or Duvan Zapata part ways with La Dea at the end of the season.
Inter have also been mentioned in the same breath for Belotti, but the Nerazzurri are now entirely focused on young up and coming striker Gianluca Scamacca as the club’s attacking future.
Moreover, there is England top-four hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur in the picture. Led by Antonio Conte, who is said to be a fan of Belotti, a move to London instead cannot be ruled out in the summer.
The former Palermo striker has 109 goals in 244 caps for Torino since joining from the Rosanero in 2015/16.
