OFFICIAL: Napoli Add André Zambo Anguissa from Fulham

Napoli have completed their puzzle in the midfield by acquiring André Zambo Anguissa from Fulham. The player arrived in town to take the medicals yesterday. The Partenopei had been looking for another option to replenish the depth at the position. He has joined on a season-long loan with option to buy, Sky Sport reports.

Napoli had Tiemoué Bakayoko in the role last season, but they did not retain him as he was a pet player of former coach Gennaro Gattuso. He will return to Serie A, but at Milan. They are also short-handed because Diego Demme is recovering from a knee injury that will cost him a few more games.

The fact that the Azzurri did not cash in on any of their stars forced them to look only at cheap options. After striking out on a few targets, they have come to terms with Fulham. Anguissa wanted to leave the club following the relegation, and his contract was up in 2023. The two elements facilitated the deal. Napoli will spend around €14M between the initial fee and the option to buy, the outlet adds.

Anguissa landed on Roma’s radar earlier in the summer. He was signed by the Cottagers for €25M in 2018 and spent a season on loan to Villarreal in 2019-2020. He accumulated 36 Premier League appearances in the past campaign, providing 3 assists. The 25-year-old is a staple of Cameroon and has featured in 29 international matches, scoring 4 times. He is mostly known for his defensive presence.
