Napoli Forward Simeone Hints at Future La Liga Move

Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone is pleased with the recent win over Atalanta and alluded to a potential transfer to La Liga in the future in an interview with Marca (via Fantacalcio).

“We defeated Atalanta and showed something of last season’s Napoli. We’re starting a new path to fight for the first positions. We want to have a great performance in Madrid. Scoring at the Santiago Bernabeu would be special, especially considering the magnitude of the game.”

“However, I don’t see it as a dream, as it would be hitting the net in the Champions League’s final instead. It’s an objective in my career and to prove to myself and the team that we’re one of the best squads in Europe. It’s a special tilt for me and Napoli. I’ve always been an Atleti fan, besides the presence of my father on their bench. It’d be something to tell your kids about.”

Simeone was quizzed about a possible transfer to Spain down the line.

“There’s still many years left in my career, and I hope it could happen one day. Football offers a lot of possibilities. I wish to be closer to my dad one day and not to have to take a flight to see him.”

Simeone joined Napoli in a €15.5M move from Hellas Verona, considering the initial fee and the obligation to buy. He has tallied 10 goals in 48 matches with the reigning Scudetto champions.
