Napoli Goalkeeper Ospina Among Top Summer Targets for Lazio

Lazio are looking for a new starting goalkeeper for next season, and David Ospina is one of the leading options. He is on an expiring contract, like Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina. The Albanian international is highly likely to leave despite having taken over between the sticks, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

Strakosha has yet to receive real offers, but he wishes to head abroad in the summer. He did not appreciate that the last two coaches have preferred the Spanish veteran over him for long stretches. He has no plan to discuss a new pact.

The situation of Reina is different. Qualifying to a European competition would automatically add another year to his contract. Unlike the teammate, he could stay on board even if Lazio landed Ospina or another starting-caliber goalkeeper. However, there is a decent chance that the club will have to look for two options in the role.

The Colombian shot-stopper has played more than Alex Meret in the past two seasons and has been reliable. However, the Napoli powerbrokers prefer the latter since he is younger and want him to be the regular starter. He is under contract till 2023, and they are considering handing him an extension. In any case, it is improbable that the Partenopei will have the same pair on goal in 2022-2023.

On top of Ospina, Lazio are keeping tabs on Pierluigi Gollini, who will not be bought out by Tottenham after the loan spell, the specialized site adds. Maurizio Sarri likes Kepa Arrizabalaga, but he is very expensive.
