Napoli Hero Osimhen Exalted as Part of Elite Marksmen

Nigeria coach José Pereiro was full of praise for the masked marksman for his contributions this campaign. Napoli’s title-winning goal fittingly arrived from the boot of Victor Osimhen, who cancelled Sandi Lovric’s opener with a second-half strike, clinching the Scudetto at the Dacia Arena with five matchdays to go – a joint-record in Sere A history.

Interviewed by Tuttomercatoweb in an exclusive, Pereiro heaped praise on the 24-year-old striker and backed him to start for any team in the world.

“Goal is in Victor’s blood even though he’s still very young. He knows how to score in every way, and he knows how to do everything else too. He presses continuously, he’s physical, he plays for the team first and then for himself. Osimhen and Napoli have done something incredible this year.”

Osimhen has constantly been linked to the exit door, with several top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich in the picture.

“Everyone wants to buy a player like him, it won’t be easy for Napoli to keep him in the summer. If the Azzurri rightly ask for millions for his price tag, I am convinced that there will be several clubs willing to meet De Laurentiis’ high demands. He would be a starter in any team in the world.”

Osimhen is on course to winning the Capocannoniere title as well, with 22 goals so far this Serie A season, and 27 across all competitions.

“It’s certainly not easy to have this continuity in front of goal, usually a centre-forward finds these numbers later in his career. That’s why I tell you that already today Victor is undoubtedly part of elite strikers. He lives with the obsession of becoming the strongest.”

The former Wolfsburg and Lille forward has 27 goals and 5 assists in 34 appearances this season for Napoli.
