Nahitan Nandez is eager to leave Cagliari for the third summer in a row, and his agent linked him to Napoli. The Uruguayan midfielder has been on the radar of the top Serie A’s clubs for a few windows in a row, but nobody managed to strike a deal with the Sardinians, even after their relegation.
His representative Pablo Bentancur talked with Radio Kiss Kiss (via Rai).
“These last two years have been very tough for the team and the player. Luckily, they worked their way back into the top flight, where they deserve to be. I’ve talked with the president, and we serenely decided together to look for an offer that would allow them to recoup part of the investment they made to bring him to Italy, around €18M.”
“Napoli like Nandez, but there have been official proposals yet. You’ll know his suitors very soon. In any case, he’ll carry this experience in his heart. He’s unique, as he lives far way from the usual world of footballers. He’s among pastors, sheep, dogs, and wild boars.”
According to Ansa, the Partenopei could be willing to spend €8M for the veteran. His price tag is low since his contract expires in 2024.
Our Take on Napoli and Nandez
His agent made similar remarks in previous transfer market sessions too, but he always ended up staying. The Azzurri do need another box-to-box, though. He’s not as physical as Frank Anguissa and Tanguy Ndombélé, who will return to Tottenham, but he makes up for it with his energy and grit. He’d be a good addition if the fee were low.
