Napoli Interested in Saint-Etienne and Roma Midfielders

Napoli are canvassing the market to find a midfielder without breaking the bank. After the attempts for Sofyan Amrabat and Sander Berge, they have started pursuing Zaydou Youssouf. The Partenopei have opened talks with Saint-Etienne, Corriere dello Sport reports.

The contract of the 22-year-old expires in 2023. Napoli are trying to add somebody on loan with option to buy. On the other hand, the French club and Sheffield United demanded an obligation to sign the players permanently next summer. Youssuf appeared in 56 matches with Les Verts in the past two season, scoring once. Similarly to Junior Messias, another of their targets, he would be able to feature in multiple positions.

Napoli have been looking for a new contributor in the role for the whole summer. They did not retain Tiemoué Bakayoko, who is on the verge of returning to Milan. Plus, they will not have Diego Demme for the first few rounds due to a knee injury. They have also reached out to Roma to ask for Gonzalo Villar. José Mourinho would be open to letting him go if they brought in a new option, Tuttosport informs.

The Partenopei are working on some sales too. The gap in the talks with Olympiakos regarding the transfer of Kostas Manolas remains significant. Napoli want at least €15M to okay his departure. Olympique Marseille inquired about Adam Ounas, but they will not meet his €14M price tag. Instead, they offered €8M. Luciano Spalletti would not mind keeping on the roster, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
