Napoli Join Inter in Race for Salernitana Ace as Di Lorenzo Deputy

Napoli right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo is inches away from signing a contract extension. However, that hasn’t stopped the club from hunting for players on the transfer market to function as his deputy. The Partenopei wish to boost their ranks going into the second half of the season, and a Salernitana ace has come into light for a potential move.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli), Napoli have Salernitana fullback Pasquale Mazzocchi firmly in their sights. It is reported that Granata owner Danilo Iervolino expects nothing less than €10M into his club’s’ coffers, as Mazzocchi is viewed as one of the team’s indispensable players.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis maintains excellent relations with Iervolino, and this could prove to be instrumental in facilitating negotiations between the two parties. Inter are also said to be interested in the 27-year-old Salernitana wingback.

The Serie A league leaders are in pole position to lift the Scudetto this season. Reinforcements might not be the need of the hour, but it certainly adds depth, which is the mark of title-winning sides.
