Napoli Keen on Hellas Verona Stalwart for Backup Role

Napoli are interested in Marco Davide Faraoni to deputize Giovanni Di Lorenzo. The Partenopei didn’t buy out Bartosz Bereszynski, who handled the role in the second half of last season, playing very little. Instead, Alessandro Zanoli is highly likely to depart again to play consistently.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Scudetto champions have been in touch with the entourage of the defender, and Hellas Verona have been informed of the matter. Following 183 appearances in Serie A, he’d get the chance to return to a top club after getting his start at Inter back in the day.

The Scaligeri are unlikely to stand in their captain’s way if Faraoni pushed to join Napoli. The fee would be low since he’s 31.

The veteran has spent the last four and a half seasons with the Gialloblù, featuring in 152 matches and recording 19 goals and 22 assists. He previously spent time at Crotone, Udinese, Novara, Perugia, and Watford.

Our Take on Faraoni and Napoli

He’d be a fine option as a backup, even though he has more experience as a wingback than in a four-man line. The deal comes down to his intentions and whether he’s willing to relinquish a sizeable role to move a big team.
