Napoli Keep Tracking Udinese Defender Despite Hurdles

After missing out on Radu Dragusin, Napoli are focusing their efforts on Nehuen Perez. The player would be glad to join. Coming to terms with him wouldn’t be a problem. However, Udinese don’t want to sell him, Sky relays.

The Argentine has a €15M price tag. Atletico Madrid are entitled to 50 percent of the fee. The Friulani spent €8M to sign him permanently after a loan. He has appeared in almost every match this season and has racked up 77 caps since moving to Italy, scoring 4 times. He has played once with Argentina.

Udinese director Federico Balzaretti commented on Nehuen Perez being linked to Napoli to the outlet.

“They asked for info, but we wish to keep him because he’s pivotal in our defense after Jaka Bijol’s injury. Our goal is to try to achieve that.”

The Friulani have tried different combinations after their top option suffered a foot fracture. They recently signed former Velez Sarsfield stalwart Lautaro Giannetti for free. Per Corriere dello Sport, the Azzurri will soon increase their total bid for the center-back and Lazar Samardzic.

Our Take on Inter and Perez

He doesn’t have the same potential as Dragusin, and in fact, he’s not as expensive and has more experience in a three-man defense. They need help from him to convince his side. The main hurdle is that Udinese wouldn’t get a ton of money to reinvest due to Atleti’s re-sale clause, so it’s not a very enticing deal for them.
