Napoli have big-ticket targets in mind to substitute for Victor Osimhen, but they might eventually be forced to go for less ambitious ones, such as Artem Dovbyk and Terem Moffi. They have Jonathan David at the top of their wish list, but Milan are currently ahead of them in the race, DAZN’s Orazio Accomando informed.
Per Il Mattino, the Partenopei have started tracking the Girona and Nice strikers. The former has been one of the biggest revelations in La Liga this year. He has bagged 18 goals and provided 5 assists. The 26-year-old has been linked with a Serie A transfer a few times while at Dnipro-1, but it never materialized. The Manchester City affiliate nabbed him for €7.75M last summer.
In addition to Dovbyk, Napoli have taken an interest in Moffi, who’s having a solid campaign at Nice. He has hit the net 11 times in 28 seasonal appearances. He’s a compatriot of Osimhen, and the two have fairly similar traits. On the other hand, Les Aiglons paid €22.5M to acquire him from Lorient last summer, and he’s under contact until 2027.
The Azzurri are keen on Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, but he has a €60M price tag, about twice as much as their aforementioned targets.
Our Take on Napoli, Moffi, and Dovbyk
They will have a large budget but also a seminal decision to make: splurge on a couple of top players, ideally a defender and a striker, or divvy it up for seven or eight quality purchases.
