Napoli Leapfrog Atalanta in Race for Frosinone Staple

Napoli have found the midfielder they like the most amid a slew of options, Marco Brescianini, and their pursuit will kick into high gear once they part ways with one of their current pieces at the position, Sky informs.

Gianluca Gaetano and Jens-Lys Cajuste are likely to depart. The former could go back to Cagliari on a permanent deal, or something close to it, but other Serie A sides are keen on him as well. The Swedish youngster hasn’t impressed Antonio Conte and could be on his way out after just one year at the club. Atalanta tracked the Frosinone specialist in recent weeks, but those discussions are on hold at the moment.

According to Matteo Moretto (via SOSFanta), Napoli are ready to offer €12M plus add-ons for Brescianini. Milan are owed 50 percent of the fee as they let him leave for free last summer. They loaned him out to Virtus Entella, Monza, and Cosenza in previous years.

The 24-year-old tallied 4 goals and 2 assists in 37 matches in his first and only Serie A season.

Our Take on Napoli and Brescianini

He’s not the juiciest option among those attached to them in recent weeks, but they only need a deputy. He’d get the job done, he has room for improvement despite not being a youngster, and he’d be able to take care of multiple positions in their new scheme. Plus, he has the right grit and stamina, which are a must under Conte.
