Ex-Napoli hero Marek Hamsik misses everything about his former club, as he says in a recent interview. The central midfielder is currently plying his trade at Trabzonspor but hasn’t stopped following the Partenopei’s ascendancy on both the domestic and continental stages.
Speaking to DAZN (via TuttoNapoli) in an exclusive interview, the all-time highest club appearance record holder shed light on Napoli’s current status as one of the best clubs in the world.
Yes, I’m in Trabzon! But I never stopped following Napoli, I always follow them. This year and last year, they started very strong, but I see them more convinced than last year this time.”
He also praised how well Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has adopted to the team under Luciano Spalletti.
“An incredible surprise, someone knew him, but not a lot. He is doing things out of the ordinary”
Hamsik spent 12 years in the sky blue of the Partenopei, and expectedly so, the Slovakian misses everything about the city and the club.
“I miss a little bit of everything. It’s a mix of beautiful things. From the people, the stadium, the food. I remember that people got scared (of the city), then they fell in love right away.”
Finally, when asked if he had any words of advice for the team, Hamsik replied calmly.
“Yes, go on like this, I won’t say anything… nothing”
The longtime center-half finished his Napoli career in 2019, ending with 121 goals from 520 appearances.
