Napoli are reportedly one of the teams keen on emerging Argentinian midfielder Kevin Zenon, who has a relatively low release clause for now. Newcastle United, Tottenham, Brighton, and Olympique Lyonnais are also in the mix, Pasion Futbol reports (via Mediaset).
Manchester United and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old as well. He has racked up 36 appearances with Boca Juniors in recent years. He participated in the Olympics with the U-23 squad, providing one assist in four games before his side was eliminated.
Napoli are eyeing Zenon primarily for his versatility. He stars chiefly as a wing-back or a fullback on the left flank but has played all over the pitch in recent campaigns.
The talent starred 113 times with Union Santa Fe before moving to the Xeneizes. He has tallied 10 goals and 17 assists in 149 matches at the club level. He’s under contract until 2028 with a €15M release clause. On the other hand, he and the team are discussing a renewal that could raise it to at least €20M.
Our Take on Napoli and Zenon
The Partenopei signed Leonardo Spinazzola, who’s solid but not a long-term solution at the position, and have Mathias Olivera, who’s hit and miss. They might intervene next summer, but it’ll depend on their tactical direction. He might be a little too offensive-minded if they decided to stick with 4-3-3. He could come in handy as a jack-of-all-trades, though.
