Michael Folorunsho faced a summer of uncertainty despite renewing his contract with Napoli early in the window. He aims to stay put in January even though he hasn’t played much so far. His agent Mario Giuffredi spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss.
“There was a turbulent time, but then we went back to the original plan for him. There were some requests for him that were handled poorly by director Giovanni Manna and myself. After that, we wiped the slate clean and restarted with a two-month delay. When you don’t make the pre-season preparation with the coach and the rest of the team, you have catch up.”
Giuffredi confirmed that Atalanta wanted Folorunsho and didn’t put pressure on the coach to obtain more game time.
“It’s true that they pursued him, then they lost Gianluca Scamacca and signed Mateo Retegui. Napoli are top of the league, so, if the team is faring well, why should Antonio Conte change?”
The agent said that there would be no confusion in the next window.
“We made a mistake during the summer and won’t repeat it. Conte likes him a lot. We’ll take stock in June.”
Giuffredi dished two other of his clients in addition to addressing Folorunsho.
“The pitch always provides the best answers, so, if these are the results, staying was the best choice for Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Matteo Politano had a great season last year too, but the going of the team didn’t underline his performances like it’s happening now. He does both phases and has been playing excellently for two campaigns. Manna follows a lot of good players, including Francesco Pio Esposito, but he belongs to Inter. We’ll see.”
