Napoli Mulling Over Strategy to Purchase Argentinian Duo

Napoli are in the races for two Argentinian internationals, although it will not be easy to sign them. The Partenopei are in talks with Ajax to acquire Nicolas Tagliafico and are among the sides tracking Julian Alvarez.

According to Sky, the agents of the left-back will soon sit down with the Dutch club to take stock of his future. The 29-year-old has indicated that he does not plan to extend his contract, which runs out in June 2023. His role has not been as prominent as in the past this season. His entourage leaked to the Azzurri that he would appreciate moving to Italy.

However, Napoli could at most offer a loan with option to buy for the Argentinian fullback, which may not satisfy Ajax, Rai informs. They plan to bring in a new left-back, either in January or in the summer. They have accelerated their interest in Tagliafico because Atletico Madrid have set their sights on their top target Reinildo Mandava. The Partenopei can not technically purchase the Lille defender in January because they have already filled their extra-EU spots. The Colchoneros figure to be a formidable foe for a potential Bosman move as well.

Napoli are very high on the new Argentinian sensation Julian Alvarez, but the odds are stacked against them. On top of the stiff competition, they would need to make a profit on some major sales to be able to match his €25M price tag. The Azzurri will have to replace Lorenzo Insigne, who will join Toronto FC for free.
