Napoli Newcomer Surprisingly Left Out of Europa League List

Napoli elected not to insert Axel Tuanzebe in their Europa League list. The Partenopei had just one spot open. They decided to fill it with Faouzi Ghoulam, who was not in it in the first half of the season. They will move forward with Kalidou Koulibaly, Amir Rrahmani, and Juan Jesus as their center-backs in the continental competition.

Tuanzebe technically replaced Kostas Manolas on the roster. However, Jesus remained the starter after his arrival. He filled in for Koulibaly, who is taking part in the African Cup of Nations. The 24-year-old has played just 13 minutes since joining on loan from Manchester United.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli considered excluding Adam Ounas from the list, but they ultimately did not. There was fear he suffered heart complications after dealing with COVID-19. However, his tests came back clean, the club announced today.

The European lists by the other Serie A teams were not particularly eventful. Atalanta omitted Josip Ilicic, as he is away from the team to take care of mental health issues, SportMediaset reports. Juventus replaced Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, and Aaron Ramsey with Luca Pellegrini, Denis Zakaria, and Dusan Vlahovic. Kaio Jorge missed out as it is possible to make just three changes.

Inter left out Aleksandar Kolarov and added their two newcomers. Roma’s one comprises Leonardo Spinazzola, as the Giallorossi are holding out hope he will be back before the end of the season. Lazio listed their recent additions Dimitrije Kamenovic and Jovane Cabral, substituting Gonzalo Escalante and Vedat Muriqi.
