Napoli Official Anticipates More Contract Renewals

Napoli recently prolonged the contracts for Alex Meret and Alessio Zerbin, and the extensions will keep coming. Stanislav Lobotka is next in line, and a few more players will get new contracts relatively soon.

Director Cristiano Giuntoli talked to DAZN Sunday.

“We have positive sensations, but we always need to improve. Something has gone wrong even in some of our great displays. The coach is evaluating everything in order for us to grow even further. We wanted to create a squad filled with motivation, competitiveness and youth. It has gone well so far.”

The Napoli exec was quizzed about the extensions.

“We are in talks with the players whose deals expire in 2024 and 2015. They are happy to stay, as they have committed to our project and I think they want to keep going.”

Alessandro Zanoli is currently the only one whose contract runs out in 2023, while they have an option to automatically prolong Juan Jesus for another season. Instead, linchpins such as Piotr Zielinski, Hirving Lozano, Amir Rrahmani and Matteo Politano, and also Diego Demme, are up in 2024. Victor Osimhen, Kim Min-Jae, Elijf Elmas, Stanislav Lobotka, and Mario Rui are tied to the club until the following year. Despite long-term pacts, the negotiations with Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Frank Anguissa are in their later stages, Corriere dello Sport informs (via Yahoo).

Our Take on the Napoli Extensions

The Partenopei freed up a ton of money by either selling or letting go of multiple centerpieces last summer. While any side can benefit from trimming their payroll, the ensuing investments proved that the choices were more technical than driven by monetary reasons. They have hit the jackpot with their additions, and it’ll be smooth sailing for years.
