Napoli Open Talks with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat

Napoli are stepping up their efforts to gift Luciano Spalletti a new midfielder. The Partenopei have reached out to Fiorentina to inquire about Sofyan Amrabat. However, the Viola are not keen on letting him go considering how much they invested for him, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Azzurri have been searching for a new piece ever since Diego Demme picked up a knee problem. He will sit out few more matches. They have limited resources to make an addition and are looking for potential bargains. Earlier today, they were linked to Crotone’s Junior Messias and Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanic.

Amrabat has had a troublesome pre-season as he had surgery to fix a sports hernia. He missed the opener but should return on the pitch soon. Fiorentina recently turned down an offer from Atalanta. The Bergamaschi wanted him on €1.5M season-long loan, Sky Sport reports. Ivan Juric has been trying to lure him to Torino, to no avail thus far, Tuttosport indicates.

The Moroccan international blossomed under the Croatian coach in his lone season at Verona. Fiorentina signed him for €10.5M. His first campaign in a different system was rather unconvincing. However, the management would like to see if we could bounce back under the tutelage of Vincenzo Italiano.

Napoli will likely attempt to sign Amrabat on an initial loan. The Viola might resist such formula, but they are on better terms with the Partenopei than with Atalanta. They have put a significant price tag on the midfielder, thus discouraging the suitors, the transfer market expert added.
