Napoli Optimistic About Re-Upping with Kvaratskhelia

Everything has been quiet for Napoli on the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia front after the early assault by PSG. The Azzurri made it clear that he would stay and have been working on his renewal since, Corriere dello Sport informs (via Fantacalcio).

The attacker seemed open to the courtship by the Ligue 1 giants but Antonio Conte and director Giovanni Manna reeled him with a trip to Germany during Euro 2024. The extension is unlikely to be finalized in August while the hierarchy tends to the transfer market, but it is at a good point.

Kvaratskhelia is already under contract with Napoli until 2027 but has a very low salary. He never improved it since joining from Dinamo Batumi two years ago. The Partenopei wants to push the expiry date to 2029.

His bumped-up wages would start from €5M plus add-ons and progressively raise to €7M annually. He’ll be the best-paid player in the squad if Victor Osimhen leaves as expected despite the impasse. PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal are after him, but the issue is far from being resolved.

Our Take on Napoli and Kvaratskhelia

The good news is that they repelled the bids without too much angst even though they had reached tempting levels. Still, the menace will still be present until the window is over. It’s a bit early to pop the champagne, but everything points in that direction. His new deal will look a lot better once Osimhen and his monstrous figure are no longer in town.
