Napoli Player Ratings vs Frosinone: Osimhen Brace, Di Lorenzo Excels

Here are our Napoli player ratings against Frosinone. Napoli managed to defeat newly-promoted Frosinone 3-1 on Saturday as they kicked off their Serie A title defense.

It was not the start that Rudi Garcia was looking for as his Napoli side went a goal down inside the opening ten minutes against newly-promoted Frosinone. However, it was a quick turnaround as goals from Matteo Politano and Victor Osimhen put Napoli ahead before the end of the first half.

The second half saw very few chances for the most part. Jaime Baez was the biggest threat for Frosinone and he hit the woodwork with an excellent free kick with the scores at 2-1. Nevertheless, Osimhen would find his second of the match late on as he cooly tucked the ball home after going one-on-one with Stefano Turati. Check out our Napoli player ratings against Frosinone in their season opener as they recorded a 3-1 triumph. You can find our match recap here.

Napoli: (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 5

Didn’t have to make a single save throughout the match. Was sent the wrong way for the penalty.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 8.5

Advanced down the right flank and supported the attack throughout. He looked threatening and assisted Osimhen’s first after making an excellent run down the right. Also assisted Osimhen‘s second. Quality display.

Amir Rrahmani – 7

Accurate in possession and put in a composed display. Not troubled whenever called upon defensively

Juan Jesus – 6.5

Didn’t put a foot wrong and was rarely troubled in defense.

Mathias Olivera – 6.5

Looked solid defensively and put in a number of good tackles. Wasn’t too influential going forward but rarely troubled at the back.

Stanislav Lobotka – 7

Booked early on as he halted a Frosinone counter-attack. Played his usual role at the base of the midfield. Hardly ever gave the ball away.

Jens Cajuste – 4

Reckless play inside the box as he gave away a penalty in the opening minutes. Booked later on in the half for a silly challenge. A raw and nervy debut from Cajuste.

Piotr Zielinski – 7

Played a few tidy passes and created a number of opportunities over the 90 minutes. Continues to be a key creative player for Napoli.

Matteo Politano – 7

Struck the ball home to find the equalizer midway through the opening period. Threatened at times down the right flank.

Victor Osimhen – 9

Posed a threat due to his frame in the box as Napoli sought to fire crosses into the box. Put the Partenopei ahead with a fantastic strike from inside the box following some good play by Di Lorenzo. Came close to finding his second just before the hour mark but eventually did so with a calm and composed finish later on in the second half. The Nigerian continues to dominate the league.

Giacomo Raspadori – 6.5

Occupied the left flank in the absence of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. Thought he had put Napoli ahead but had his goal disallowed for offside. Fairly solid display.
