Napoli Player Ratings vs Inter: Kvaratskhelia Chained at the Meazza

Following a thrilling run that saw them opening an eight-point gap with their closest chasers, Napoli saw their undefeated streak come to an end as they succumbed to defeat at the hands of Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza. The Partenopei had some chances, but their hosts were simply superior, earning a well-deserved win. So here are our player ratings for Napoli who suffered their first defeat of the Serie A campaign with Edin Dzeko’s header proving to be the lone difference between them and Inter.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 6

The Italy international didn’t have an awful lot to do despite the flurry of Inter chances. However, he was left with no chance against Dzeko’s powerful header from close range.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 5.5

A night to forget for the Napoli captain who wasn’t given the opportunity to dart forward, but was instead pegged by Federico Dimarco and then Robin Gosens. Gave Dimarco more than enough space to deliver the assist for the winner.

Kim Min-jae – 6

A generally solid outing from the Korean defender, although he lost track of Romelu Lukaku on a couple of occasions.

Amir Rrhamani – 5.5

It wasn’t a terrible night for the Kosovan by any means, but it was ultimately marred by his inability to track down Dzeko ahead of the goal.

Mathias Olivera – 6

The Uruguay international started the match on a positive note, pushing forward in support of Kvaratskhelia, but they both faded as the match progressed.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 6

Another player who had a promising start before running out of steam. Had the better of Mkhitaryan early on, but he and his teammates eventually lost the midfield battle.

Stanislav Lobotka – 5.5

The former Celta Vigo man has been impeccable this season, but he just couldn’t impact the contest as usually does this time.

Piotr Zielinski – 5.5

A forgettable display from the Poland international who wasted the most promising Napoli chance in the first half with an uncharacteristically wayward shot.

Matteo Politano – 6

The former Inter man earned several fouls in his own area, but his impact was hardly felt in the final third.

Victor Osimhen – 6

The deadly Nigerian striker had a glorious chance early in the second half but couldn’t react in time. Only managed to break away from Francesco Acerbi’s on one or two occasions.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 5.5

Simone Inzaghi had certainly done his homework, laying a smart plan to contain the extremely dangerous winger. The Georgian always found Milan Skriniar – supported by another marker – between him and goal, and was scarcely able to get crack at goal.

Substitutes

Giacomo Raspadori – 6.5

The former Sassuolo striker added an extra layer to the southerners’ attack. Almost bagged a late equalizer with a thunderous shot, but was somehow denied by André Onana.

Hirving Lozano – 5.5

The Mexican replaced Politano but didn’t prove to be a major upgrade on the Italian.

Eljif Elmas – 6

A few pieces of skills were displayed by the Macedonian, but hardy enough to change the final outcome.

Tanguy Ndombelé – 5.5

It seemed that Luciano Spalletti wasn’t pleased with the Frenchman’s performance based on post-match footage. Couldn’t quite drive the team forward as his manager was hoping.

Giovanni Simeone – N/A
