Napoli Player Ratings vs Milan: Bewildered Partenopei Miss Osimhen

In the biggest showdown of the weekend, Milan stunned the crowds at the Maradona Stadium by inflicting an embarrassing defeat on their hosts. Despite entering the match as the heavy favorites, the Partenopei had no answer to the masterclass of Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz who ran wild in Naples. So here are our player ratings for Napoli following their 0-4 loss at the hands of Milan who now have the mental edge ahead of the two sides’ double encounter in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 5

Perhaps none of the goals were directly his fault, but the Italian goalkeeper could have done better on some occasions, especially on the first and the last. But still did well to deny Olivier Giroud from adding to the Azzurri’s misery

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 5.5

The Napoli captain never raised the white flag, but the cause was simply lost. Tried to support Politano upfront but they never managed to create anything noteworthy.

Amir Rrahmani – 4.5

A night to forget for the Kosovan who simply failed to contain the marauding Leao. The Portuguese left him in the dust ahead of the third goal.

Kim Min-jae – 5

This was possibly the South Korean’s worst display since joining Napoli. Struggled to contain Giroud in the air and allowed Alexis Saelemaekers to get past him with ease ahead of the fourth goal.

Mario Rui – 4.5

A chaotic display from the Portuguese left-back who lost the ball cheaply on several occasions. He also had a torrid time against Diaz.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 6

The Cameroonian was arguably the best of an under-par Napoli bunch. Did the dirty work in the middle of the park and tried to advance the play.

Stanislav Lobotka – 4.5

Based on his incredibly-high standards, this was a horrendous showing from the Slovakian who was bullied off the ball by Ismael Bennacer and Rade Krunic. He also failed to keep Diaz in check, especially ahead of the first goal.

Piotr Zielinski – 5

The former Udinese man tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the box but was denied by Mike Maignan. Lost his duel against Sandro Tonali.

Matteo Politano – 5

The Italian winger had a rough treatment at the hands of Milan players, but he failed to get past Theo Hernandez with his futile dribbling.

Giovanni Simeone – 5.5

The Argentine started on a positive note, threatening with a couple of shots, but his impact dwindled as the match progressed while receiving little to no service. But in hindsight, he couldn’t quite make up for Victor Osimhen’s absence.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 5

Speaking of the Nigerian striker, Kvara certainly missed his striking partner. He displayed a few glimpses of magic early on, but was also wasteful on the ball, at times attempting to take on a bunch of Milan defenders at once.

The Frenchman produced minimal impact after coming in.

The Italian made his return from injury and had the best Napoli chance of the evening when he skipped past Calabria on the counter-attack, but couldn’t direct his shot goalward.
