Napoli Player Ratings vs Roma: Superb Osimhen, Clinical Simeone

At the Maradona Stadium, Napoli hosted Roma for the biggest clash of Serie A Round 20. Unsurprisingly, it was Victor Osimhen who fired first, putting the Partenopei ahead with an extraordinary goal. However, Stephan El-Shaarawy entered the the pitch in the second half to put the visitors back on level terms with a deft flick. But the home side was determined to earn another victory, and Giovanni Simeone’s wonderful strike did the trick. So here are our player ratings for Napoli who made another significant step towards an imminent triumph with a 2-1 win over Roma in the Derby del Sole.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 6.5

The Italy international pulled off some spectacular saves against Leonardo Spinazzola and Bryan Cristante and was always alert to the danger, but failed to prevent El-Shaarawy’s goal

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 6.5

A solid if unspectacular display from the Napoli captain who found success in his duel against Spinazzola.

Amir Rrahmani – 6.5

A commanding performance at the back from the former Verona defender who had the upper hand against Tammy Abraham and Andrea Belotti.

Kim Min-jae – 7

The former Fenerbahce man once again proved to be a top-notch defender with a series of vital blocks and interceptions. Though, he still has to improve his passing.

Mario Rui – 6.5

Another impressive performance from the former Roma man who’s enjoying the best stretch of his career. Contributed in Osimhen’s goal by releasing Kvara with a clever ball.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 7

The Cameroonian was quite literally everywhere on the pitch. Combined well with his teammates and made sure that Napoli prevail in the battle for the middle of the park.

Stanislav Lobotka – 6.5

It wasn’t his best performance, but the Slovakian remains a highly influential figure in Luciano Spalletti’s tactical scheme. Controlled the tempo of the match.

Piotr Zielnski – 7.5

A brilliant display from the former Udinese man who seemed to be enjoying himself deep into the Roman areas. Provided the assist for Simeone’s winner, and his touch was exquisite overall.

Hirving Lozano – 6

The Mexican can be devastating whenever he gets an inch of space. But what started as a wonderful outing was eventually marred by two incidents: wasting a glorious counter attack by going for goal himself, and allowing El-Shaarawy to sneak past him to score the equalizer.

Victor Osimhen – 7.5

With three fabulous touches, the Nigerian pulled off another extraordinary goal. He came close on another couple of occasions, but his bruises hindered his display.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 7

The Georgian sensation returned after missing the last two. He didn’t seem to be at his best physically, but still caused havoc for the opposition. Tested Rui Patricio with an early shot, and provided the assist for Osimhen.

Substitutes

Eljif Elmas – 6

A decent cameo from the North Macedonian who displayed his versatility by switching to the right wing.

Mathias Olivera – 6

An energetic display from the Uruguay international who picked up from Mario Rui left off.

Giacomo Raspadori – 6

The former Sassuolo man threatened Patricio with a vicious low drive late on.

Giovanni Simeone – 7.5

The Argentine striker only needed one chance to score a screamer which solidifies the club’s status as the runaway leaders. Having impeccable substitutes like these is a main reason why Napoli will clinch the title sooner or later.

Tanguy Ndombelé – N/A
