Napoli Player Ratings vs Salernitana: Kvara-Less Partenopei Win the Derby

On a rainy evening in Salerno, Napoli continued their march towards the Scudetto title with a confident victory over their local rivals Salernitana. Davide Nicola’s men managed to contain their visitors for 45+ minutes, only to concede in the first half’s added-time. Following the interval, Victor Osimhen swiftly doubled his side’s lead, killing the excitement in the process. So here are our player ratings for Napoli who secured a 2-0 victory over Salernitana in the Campanian Derby, despite the absence their talisman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 6

Between the pouring rain and the lack of action on his end of the pitch, the poor custodian was surely left to freeze in goal. He was beaten by Piatek late in the match, but his right post came to his rescue.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 7

A splendid outing from the Euro 2020 winner who displayed his attacking prowess with some dangerous runs and eventually broke the deadlock with an unstoppable shot from close-range. But he did commit a howler late on with a poor pass to Lobotka which almost allowed Salernitana to pull one back.

Amir Rrahmani – 6.5

A comfortable showing from the Napoli centre-back who was hardly troubled by Boulaye Dia and company.

Kim Min-jae – 5.5

The South Koran monster had some nervy moments against Piatek, and should count himself lucky to avoid a direct red for kicking the Polish striker in the face. Though, he improved in the second half.

Mario Rui – 7.5

A fabulous showing from the Portuguese who’s on the form of his life. His smart passing unlocked the opposition’s defenses on both Napoli goal. He also managed to nullify Antonio Candreva’s threat.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 7

A strong display from the Cameroon international who created the first goal following a lovely give-and-go with Mario Rui before picking up Di Lorenzo. He Confused his opponents every time he drifted to the left side.

Stanislav Lobotka – 7

Luciano Spalletti’s Commander in Chief is simply operating on another level. Dictated the play as ever with his simple yet effective passing, even if Di Lorenzo forced him to commit a late blunder.

Piotr Zielinski – 6

Perhaps it wasn’t the Pole’s most exciting outing, but it remains a decent performance from the midfielder who made himself involved in the buildup.

Hirving Lozano – 5.5

The Mexican’s influence was almost non-existent in the first half. Although he improved following the break and saw more of the ball, there wasn’t much to write home about.

Victor Osimhen – 7.5

Every weekend, the Nigerian consolidates his position as the league’s most devastating striker. He Beat Guillermo Ochoa at his near post with a smashing shot in the first half, but was denied by a marginal offside call. Nonetheless, he got his revenge in the second period by pouncing on the rebound. Caused all sort of problems for Lorenzo Pirola and Matteo Lovato.

Eljif Elmas – 6

The Macedonian had some large shoes to fill in the absence of the sick Kvara. While he went unnoticed for large spells, it was his shot that allowed Osimhen to score the second for Napoli after crashing against the post.
