Napoli Player Ratings vs Spezia: Osimhen Tornado Hits Liguria

At the Alberto Picco Stadium in Liguria, Spezia hosted runaway leaders Napoli on Sunday’s early kickoff. The depleted Aquilotti did well to contain the visitors in the first period, but failed to replicate the same display after the interval. A combination between defensive blunders and the Partenopei’s high pressing game saw Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratkhelia score three goals between them. So here are our player ratings for Napoli who extended their winning run at Spezia while they await tonight’s Derby della Madonnina.

Napoli (4-3-3)

Alex Meret – 6

The Italy international was a mere spectator for the majority of the match. He only had to interfere on a few occasions to pull off some routine saves.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 6.5

Although it wasn’t his most adventurous display, the Napoli captain did well to limit Daniele Verde’s danger on Spezia’s left flank

Amir Rrahmani – 6

A solid display from the former Verona man who kept it clean and tidy at the back. But he was lucky to escape a first half booking for a challenge on Kevin Agudello.

Kim Min-jae – 6.5

Another commanding display from the South Korean ‘Monster’ who frustrated Eldor Shomurodov. He still has to improve his passing, though.

Mario Rui – 6

An energetic display as ever from the Portuguese left-back who was always present to support his teammates upfront. But it was a less influential appearance compared to his most recent displays.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 6

A mixed bag from the former Fulham man who exhibited his improving dribbling skills, but at the same time, wasted possession by hugging the ball.

Stanislav Lobotka – 6.5

It wasn’t a vintage display from the Slovakian playmaker, but still did well to pull the strings in the middle of the park and preserve possession for Napoli.

Piotr Zielinski – 5.5

A disappointing outing form the Pole who risked a second booking before being hauled off by Luciano Spalletti shortly after the hour mark. He was also wasteful on the ball.

Hirving Lozano – 5

The Mexican was completely overwhelmed by the opposition players in the first half, preventing him from making any sort of impact. He was replaced by Politano at the interval.

Victor Osimhen – 7.5

Even in a match that wasn’t initially going in his side’s favor, the Nigerian still managed to return home with a brace to his name. Displayed his killer instinct by pouncing on Dragowski’s mistake and heading the ball into the empty net, before scoring a simple tap-in.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 7.5

The Georgian sensation was particularly lively and played part in all three goals. He broke the deadlock from the spot, instigated the second, and stole the ball before laying it in the path of Osimhen for the third.

Substitutes

Matteo Politano – 6

The Italian proved to be a noticeable improvement on Lozano, even if wasn’t his flashiest Napoli performance.

Eljif Elmas – 6

The North Macedonian did well after replacing Zielinski in midfield, He then switched into a left winger following Kvara’s exit.

Tanguy Ndombelé – 6

A decent cameo from the Frenchman who showcased some occasional quality plays.

Mathias Olivera – 5.5

The Uruguayan replaced Mario Rui in the final stretch, but adopted a more conservative stance.

Giovanni Simeone – N/A
