Napoli Ready to Pounce on Two Rising Italian Stars

Just like the rest of the top teams, Napoli will try to take advantage of the current January Transfer market to bolster their ranks with some new signings, even if they don’t end up arriving this month. According to Tuttosport, a “Double Z” operation is in the works for the Partenopei, as Hellas Verona’s Mattia Zaccagni and Cagliari’s Gabriele Zappa are the latest names to be linked with a move towards Napoli.

The 25-year-old Verona midfielder in particular is deemed to be close to make a move towards southern Italy, and it is even being reported by La Republica, as Napoli will be looking to secure a move similar to the Amir Rrahmani operation who signed for Gennaro Gattuso’s side last January but remained on loan with the Gialloblu until the end of the season.

on the other hand, the 21-year-old Zappa has been one of the brightest sparks in Cagliari’s campaign, and the young right-back has earned comparisons with Inter legend Maicon for his ability to support the attacks with his blistering runs, and Napoli see him as a potential replacement for Elseid Hysaj who is expected to depart by the end of the season

Our View on the Potential Moves of Zaccagni and Zappa to Napoli

Napoli would do well by adding two of the league’s rising stars to their ranks, as both Zaccagni and Zappa are considered as future stars for the national team.

Zaccagni mainly operates as an attacking-midfielder in Hellas Verona’s tactical system and tends to drift to the left, so he would probably act as a competitor for Piotr Zieliński or even an emergency backup for Lorenzo Insigne.

As for Gabriele Zappa, his arrival would enhance the Partenopei’s full-back department , as he would probably be an improvement on the likes of Hysaj and Kevin Malcuit, and it would be interesting to see him compete with the more experienced Giovanni Di Lorenzo for a starting spot on the right.
