Napoli Reportedly Interested in Sassuolo Star Berardi

Napoli will likely be in the market for a new right winger in the summer and have shortlisted Domenico Berardi for the role. Hirving Lozano’s contract is up in 2024, and he’s likely to be sold. There has been no traction on the renewal talks, Corriere dello Sport informs (via Virgilio).

The Partenopei have liked the Sassuolo ace for a few years, but no team has been able to convince him to leave in previous windows. It remains to be seen whether the lure of the Scudetto champions will be enough this time. His wages are affordable but, even though he’s 29, the Neroverdi will demand a robust fee.

Napoli would be ready to pounce should Berardi opt to spread his wings and join a top team. Despite dealing with a few injuries, he has logged 11 goals and 7 assists this season. On top of the Azzurri, Lazio are also reportedly eyeing him as they look for reinforcement after qualifying for the Champions League.

According to Todofichajes (via SportdelSud), Olympique Lyonnais are keen on Lozano too. He has been rumored to have some suitors in the Premier League.

Our Take on Napoli and Berardi

Having him and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the two wings would give their attack even more punch. The Mexican winger and Matteo Politano are fine but are more complementary players than difference-makers. Should the former go, and there’s little indication of the contrary, the club should replace him with a true ace. The Azzurri star would fit the mold, but coming to terms with him and his team has proven challenging for everybody that tried in the recent past.
