Napoli Reward Midfield Ace Anguissa with Long-Term Deal

Napoli continue to lock up their own, as they announced to have reached agreement with Frank Anguissa on a new contract. The deal will run until 2025 and features a club option to extend it for two further seasons, potentially securing him for the next five years, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The parties agreed to a small pay rise, as his salary will improve from €2.2M to €2.5M net annually. The midfielder has been a linchpin ever since they signed him on a €400k loan from Fulham. They activated their €15M option to buy him out last summer.

Coach Luciano Spalletti commented on Anguissa re-upping with Napoli in the presser before facing Udinese.

“He came to me when he got out of the office, I asked him how he was feeling, and he told me that he would be completely happy only if we won tomorrow. He was pleased with the new contract too, but I was glad to hear that response, because he put the next match above everything. But the only thing matters to.”

The 26-year-old will participate in the World Cup with Cameroon, for which he has 42 caps and 5 goals. He has accumulated 47 appearances with Napoli, scoring 3 times and providing 7 assists. He had played also at Olympique Marseille and Villarreal before moving to Italy.

The gaffer confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would sit out his third game in a row due to back pain, as he has been unable to practice in any capacity this week.
