Napoli Seeking a Breakthrough in McTominay Talks

Napoli continue to negotiate for Scott McTominay even though the deal isn’t easy nor too affordable. There have been continuous and positive contacts between the parties. The player is enthusiastic about moving to Serie A and starring under Antonio Conte, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

The Partenopei will have to shell out €20/25M to capture the midfielder. He has turned down two proposals to wait for them. One came from Fulham, which have moved on. The signing is complicated, but the Partenopei are determined.

McTominay makes €4M per year, which is also an obstacle in the talks with Napoli. The Azzurri would have a lot more economic firepower if they waited for the sale of Victor Osimhen, but time is of the essence in this case.

Director Giovanni Manna is in London to broker multiple operations. According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal might resume chasing after the Nigerian star as they are struggling to come to terms with Sporting CP for Viktor Gyokeres. The Azzurri would settle for €100M at this stage. They have offered a €30M package for Romelu Lukaku, but Chelsea demand €10M more.

Our Take on Napoli and McTominay

Their latest moves are a little confusing, as signing another starting-caliber midfielder could signal a switch to 3-5-2, but they just onboarded David Neres for a hefty fee, and he’ll have to play regularly. Perhaps they’ll go in a new tactical direction altogether, but it’d be surprising after working on one scheme throughout the summer.
