Napoli Instruct Agent to Broker Victor Osimhen’s Exit

Napoli are becoming desperate to find suitors for wantaway forward Victor Osimhen, with the clock working against them. In a last-ditch attempt to broker a favorable sale, the Italians have instructed agent Roberto Calenda to negotiate the Nigeria international’s switch to Paris Saint-Germain, as per Sport Mediaset.

After struggling to ramp up interest from the Premier League, Napoli identified the perennial Ligue 1 champions as a last resort amid unsuccessful attempts to offload Osimhen. Les Parisiens were willing to put forth a mammoth €200m offer to sign the 25-year-old and his clubmate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis quickly shut down speculation regarding the Georgian winger’s future. Despite making it abundantly clear that he has no intention of selling the 23-year-old forward this summer, the Partenopei bigwig grasps the importance of cashing in on Osimhen.

With that in mind, he has dispatched Calenda to Paris to negotiate a deal with PSG. The ex-Lille striker’s release clause stands at €130m. But Napoli can’t realistically expect to get that figure following Osimhen’s disastrous 2023/24 campaign. Nonetheless, they’re gunning for at least €100m.

Luckily, PSG could be ready to match De Laurentiis’ request as they’re licking their wounds following Kylian Mbappe’s heartbreaking departure. Landing Osimhen would partially make up for the Frenchman’s exit. Meanwhile, it would unlock the Italians’ market, allowing Napoli to pursue Romelu Lukaku’s signature.

New Napoli manager Antonio Conte wants a reunion with the Belgian star at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium after the duo won the Scudetto at Inter in 2020/21.
