Napoli Send Scouts to Turkey for Fenerbahce Defender

Some Napoli scouts attended the recent Euro qualifier between Turkey and Latvia to watch Ferdi Kadioglu, whom the Partenopei already tracked last summer. However, their chase didn’t have much legs at the time. They remain keen ahead of a possible summer pursuit, though, Il Mattino relays.

The 24-year-old fullback is under contract with Fenerbahce until 2026. He generally plays on the left flank despite being right-footed. He has scored and assisted once in 12 appearances so far this season. The defender joined his current team from NEC for €1.4M in 2018.

Napoli pursued Kadioglu in the past window as Mario Rui had one foot out the door at some point. However, they eventually reeled him in and agreed to a new contract with the Portuguese. His agent recently bitterly criticized Rudi Garcia for his lack of playing time, as Mathias Olivera has seen the lion’s share of minutes.

The versatile fullback, who has 13 caps with Turkey under his belt after starring for the Netherlands at the youth level, has bagged 15 goals and provided 18 helpers in 160 matches with Fenerbahce.

Our Take on Napoli and Kadioglu

While he’s a useful player and a safe bet to pan out in Serie A, his role isn’t a position of need, plus his price tag figures to be robust. This kind of feels like an indirect shot at Rui and especially his agent.
